After a mysterious car accident, Max Laughton awakens with no memory of his identity or past. He finds himself trapped inside a strange institution resembling an asylum, surrounded by disturbing patients and inexplicable events. As he attempts to escape, Max is drawn into a series of increasingly surreal environments where reality, memories and hallucinations become difficult to distinguish.

Through nine chapters, the player explores these unsettling worlds, talks to their inhabitants, collects objects and solves inventory-based puzzles to uncover fragments of Max's past. The protagonist's identity and the true nature of the events gradually emerge as the boundaries between his memories and the world around him become increasingly uncertain.
