In the peaceful Shire, the hobbit Frodo Baggins inherits a mysterious ring from his uncle Bilbo. The wizard Gandalf discovers that it is the One Ring, forged by the Dark Lord Sauron to dominate the peoples of Middle-earth. To prevent it from returning to its creator, Frodo leaves his home and joins a fellowship of hobbits, Men, an Elf, a Dwarf and a wizard on a perilous journey toward Mordor, where the Ring must be destroyed in the fires of Mount Doom. As Sauron’s forces spread across Middle-earth, the fellowship faces enemies from without and the corrupting influence of the Ring from within.
