Jack MacGowran was an Irish actor whose career spanned theatre, film, and television. He became particularly associated with the works of Samuel Beckett, performing in several of his plays, and was also a member of Dublin’s Abbey Theatre. His film career included The Quiet Man, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, Tom Jones, Doctor Zhivago, Cul-de-sac, The Fearless Vampire Killers, and The Exorcist. MacGowran frequently worked in distinctive character roles and collaborated several times with director Roman Polanski.
