Garry Shandling was an American comedian, actor, writer, director and producer whose innovative work had a lasting impact on television comedy. He created and starred in the acclaimed series It's Garry Shandling's Show and The Larry Sanders Show, the latter widely regarded as one of the greatest television comedies ever produced. Throughout his career, he received numerous Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his writing, producing and acting. Shandling also portrayed Senator Stern in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Iron Man 2 (2010) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014).
