James Edward Franco (born April 19, 1978) is an American actor, filmmaker, and writer. He gained international recognition portraying Harry Osborn in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007). His career includes leading roles in films such as 127 Hours (2010), which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, Milk (2008), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), and The Disaster Artist (2017), for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In addition to acting, Franco has directed several films and has worked as a producer, screenwriter, and author.
