John David Landis is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor best known for his work in comedy. He rose to prominence with films including National Lampoon's Animal House, The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London, Trading Places, Three Amigos!, and Coming to America, becoming one of the most influential comedy filmmakers of the 1970s and 1980s. Landis also directed Michael Jackson's groundbreaking music video Thriller, widely regarded as one of the most influential music videos ever produced.
